About Retail Commercial Construction

When it comes to retail commercial construction, there are many factors that you need to consider. It comes with many challenges including:

  • accessibility regulations
  • environmental impact and safety rules
  • and designing the perfect layout

Some retail commercial construction projects require building from the ground up while others may require a restructuring of the interior only. Each project is unique and has its own requirements.

From cafes to boutique stores, it is essential that retail projects are designed to facilitate a good flow of people. As such, they require in-depth planning to create the perfect retail environment for both customers and staff.

At Chad Fisher Construction, we take great care to ensure we understand the needs of our clients and make sure that we meet and exceed their vision.

Examples of our Skagit County area Retail Commercial Construction projects:

15th & Commercial

Courtesy of a talented team working in construction, we want to give you an overview of a few CFC-led projects. One project was the refurbishment of 15th & Commercial – a retail space in Anacortes, Washington.

Through using products such as Thin-Brick, the CF Construction team captured an aesthetic of a real brick outer shell. The brilliance of Thin-Brick is its lighter, cleaner, and more cost-effective than traditional brick.

Another stand-out element of this building was just how modernized the retail space looked once completed. The clients were happy with a project completed both within the time and under the budget initially set out.

Island Market

Island Market is another example of a successful project. It is one that stands out as a successful completion even under the restrictions of COVID-19. Located in Orcas Island, this store is a leading grocery store in the area, extending back to the end of the 19th century.

The team at CFC pulled out all the creative stops for this project. We added elements such as new roofing, another paint job, cart storage building, and places to sit at the Deli.

Building restrictions are complex at the simplest of times, but certainly more so during a pandemic. Despite the project disruption, CFC not only followed the new restrictions, but we continued working during the pandemic as the project was deemed “Essential”.

Craft Stove

In 2016, Mount Vernon witnessed the sad destruction of Craft Stove caused by an unforeseen fire outbreak. CFC took on the job of rebuilding Craft Stove along with Hansen’s Furniture located next door. Despite the scale of the project completion, there were also a few external considerations to consider.

One need was to consider pedestrians’ safety and school children’s safety due to the building’s location in a busy area. CFC took charge to put such protocols in place and engaged with various parties affected.

The building of Craft Stove occurred after the demolition of the existing remains using the same retail footprint. In plain terms, this was no simple task. There were multiple considerations such as mat foundations to erect a stable foundation and safeguard against potential tumultuous soil conditions. Additional measures were also put in place using ballast to prevent floating in the event of a flood.

Our team had to manage limited space as the construction site became the holding site for everything. It was an area for building, construction, and storage, all in one. This process required careful delivery scheduling and planning. However, it resulted in a successful outcome of an aesthetic and functional retail facility.

Port Susan Marketplace

Another project is Port Susan Marketplace, located just south of Skagit County, in Stanwood Washington. In particular, this project required more complex methods of construction to build an up-wall construction.

CFC loaded concrete panels of up to 75, 000 pounds per panel for the above flood-level elevation of the building. Our team worked under extremely wet, rainy conditions to complete the project on time to the relief of incoming tenants.
