About Warehouse & Distribution Facilities Construction

To begin, here are some important considerations and trends in warehouse and distribution facilities construction.

Important Considerations

There are many important things to consider when it comes to warehouse and distribution construction. However, these considerations depend on the client and their needs. For example, cold storage is a rising field in the realm of warehouse and distribution construction. This is because there has been significant growth in online grocery delivery services.

Massive warehouse facilities also have to contain huge infrastructure, large machines, racks, and mezzanines. Increasingly, strength and thickness are essential to support all the facilities. Other aspects necessary to consider are the power to run huge sites and insulation to provide suitable working conditions.

In addition, the increase in site spaces is a noteworthy trend. There are Increasing demands for parking spaces, loading docks, and storage spots. Construction companies need to keep pace with these developments to avoid getting left behind.

Logistics is another crucial element of construction for warehouse and distribution facilities. Construction companies’ planning extends to advising architects and engineers on how to develop user flows and how to map facilities. This attention to detail is important for construction teams to develop a well-oiled machine of people, resources, systems, and processes.

Ultimately, each project is different and has unique requirements. It is crucial to take these needs into account in warehouse and distribution facilities construction projects.

Challenges

One vital aspect of warehouse and distribution facilities construction is the timing. Planning for everything from electricity, plumbing, fire codes, drainage, site security and other facilities’ delivery first is a must.

Besides managing the schedule, contractors need to coordinate with material providers and subcontractors. This attention to detail allows a seamless process delivery at each construction process step so that everything comes together.

Warehouse and Distribution Facilities Construction Projects

At Chad Fisher Construction, we have worked on many projects in this industry. We take care to ensure we meet our clients’ needs entirely. Here are some of the warehouse and distribution facilities construction projects we have worked on:

Northwest Wild Foods

Northwest Wild Foods is one example of a CFC project. We were commissioned to set up a new office, warehouse and distribution, and production facility. The company provides berries, seafood, mushrooms, and nuts to its customers. As such, they required a unique facility for packaging and distributing their goods.

This project was no small task. However, CFC provided the client with a project that satisfied their needs – something that a previous contractor was unable to do.

Janicki Industries Punkin Warehouse

Janicki Industries builds tools for marine, space, military aerospace, architecture, and transportation. The project included building a new facility of 45,000 square feet. This warehouse provides the space to hold a 2,600 square foot curing oven to accommodate their larger projects. We managed to complete this project in only 4 months and came out under budget.

Fidalgo Mini Storage

Yet another large project that Chad Fisher Construction took care of is the Fidalgo Mini Storage facility. CFC built a storage unit of 22,000 square feet in Anacortes, Washington.

The outcome was a building of 16 house storage units and a restroom. Delivering both on time and under the budget set out, the clients were happy with our delivery.

Hexcel Corporation

At Chad Fisher Construction, we are dedicated to completing our projects on time. Our work on the Hexcel Corporation expansion proves just that. We were selected for this design-build project to construct a new manufacturing floor area of 60,000 square feet. The project also included a 5,500 square foot ISO Level 8 Clean Room and more than 7,000 square feet of new offices and restrooms.

We worked through one of the wettest winters recorded in the area in order to complete the project on time. We also managed to complete it under budget.

Hexcel Corporation went on to hire us for their next expansion phase as well. This included an 81,000 square foot commercial construction warehouse, a 9,000 square foot ISO Level 8 Clean Room, a 2,200 square foot freezer as well as new offices, and a climate-controlled IT room.
