Project Description

Chad Fisher Construction was proud to partner with Camp Orkila on a complete renovation of the Cascade Restroom, a heavily used facility on the campgrounds located on Orcas Island in Eastsound, Washington. This two-month project involved a full interior and partial exterior overhaul designed to modernize the space, enhance usability, and extend the life of the building for future generations of campers and staff.

The project began with full demolition of the interior walls, ceramic tile flooring, roof sheathing, existing showers, and mechanical systems. Additionally, two sides of the exterior shingle siding were removed to prepare for updated finishes. The team also completed a full replacement of the plumbing and electrical systems, ensuring the infrastructure could support the new features being installed.

Once the structure was prepped, CFC and its team of subcontractors rebuilt the facility with a focus on durability, safety, and accessibility. A new metal roofing system was installed by Hytech Roofing, including gutter and downspout upgrades. The roofline was extended to cover the northside walkway for added weather protection and ease of access.

Interior improvements included polished concrete flooring provided by Foundation Restoration and high-durability FRP wall paneling installed by Mount Vernon’s Carpet One. Red Dog Plumbing led a full plumbing system upgrade, including new lavatories, toilet fixtures, a mop sink in the janitor’s closet, and a new water heater. Primac Electric installed new energy-efficient LED lighting, an upgraded heater, and an exhaust fan with wireless thermostats and sensors for improved comfort and energy efficiency.

Custom doors and toilet partitions rounded out the interior, resulting in a refreshed, modern restroom and shower facility built for functionality and long-term use.

Chad Fisher Construction’s team overcame the logistical challenges of working on an island site and delivered the project on time and within budget. The end result is a cleaner, safer, and more efficient restroom facility that supports the mission of Camp Orkila in providing meaningful outdoor experiences for youth and families across the region.
